Greater DC Cares Board Leadership Program
Are you interested in serving on a nonprofit board of directors? If so, the Board Leadership Program is for you!
Join us on Monday, June 7 and Wednesday, June 9, as a faculty of nonprofit, legal, and business leaders engages participants on models of board governance, the basic moral and legal obligations of directors, financial oversight, and techniques of fundraising.
Register as a Future Board Member, and Greater DC Cares will work with you after the training to match you to a nonprofit board of directors that suits your skills and interests. You will also be able to participate in a free Nonprofit Connection immediately following the training. Dozens of nonprofit representatives will gather to provide information on their organizations and boards, creating the opportunity for you to make a match and start the process of being placed on a nonprofit board.
Service on a nonprofit board is a highly rewarding experience, providing opportunities for you to:
- Strengthen nonprofit oversight
- Serve a mission about which you are passionate
- Strengthen your management skills
- Enhance your understanding of models of governance
- Develop leadership skills in the community
If you currently serve on a nonprofit board but would like to complete the training, please register as a Current Board Member. You will have access to all of the training and receive all the materials.

Tuition
Future board members: $495; includes training, materials, and matching* to a local nonprofit's board of directors. If you choose this option, you will receive a "matching survey" via email after your registration is complete.
Current board members: $295; includes training and materials
